'Made in Pakistan Expo' begins in Kathmandu

KATHMANDU, Sept 14: The eighth edition of 'Made in Pakistan Expo' began at the United World Trade Centre in Kathmandu on Wednesday.

Minister for Commerce Min Bahadur Bishwakarma inaugurated the expo.

The single-country 'Made in Pakistan Expo' is being organized by the Rawalpindi Chambers of Commerce and Industry in collaboration with a number of Pakistani businesspersons, who would be exhibiting their products at the expo, Pakistani Embassy in Kathmandu said, issuing a statement. "Pakistani products which include furniture, leather items, handicrafts, textile products and artificial jewelry, among others, have been put up for sale at the exhibition,” it added.

A group of more than 50 businesspersons from Pakistan are participating in this trade fair.
Speaking at the program, Amjad Hussian B Sial, the Secretary-General of SAARC, Sewa Lamsal Adhikari, the Ambassador of Nepal to Pakistan, Mazhar Javed, the Ambassador of Pakistan to Nepal, Himalaya Shamsher Rana, the President of Pakistan-Nepal Friendship Association, and Sabin Shrestha, President of Lalitpur Chamber of Commerce & Industry highlighted the importance of such events for furthering bilateral trade and commerce.

“The event will greatly help in introducing Pakistani products to Nepali consumers and provide a platform for interaction between businesspersons of two countries. This will, in turn, help to enhance the volume of trade between two countries,” read the statement. 

The exhibition will remain open for public visit till September 19.
