KATHMANDU, Sept 14: Minister for Youth and Sports Rajendra Kumar KC Wednesday said that the ministry is trying to include sports science in the Tribhuvan University (TU)’s curriculum.

Speaking after launching a book ‘Sports Science’, the minister said that the government has already started the preparations for including sports science in TU’s curriculum.

The book ‘Sports Science’ is written by a team of Padam Bahadur Khadka and Chaitanya Adhikari who have been working in the field of sports science. Nepal Academy of Sports Science, Pokhara published the book.

On the same occasion Minster KC also said that government is committed to work to make Nepal a hub of sports tourism. “We have already started the preparations to include the sports science in University’s curriculum. We also want to make maximum utilization of the country’s sports tourism potential,” said Minister KC. “We have already started work to establish the high altitude training center in Manang, Humla, Jumla among other districts with a view to attract tourists.”

Meanwhile speaking on the same occasion, writer Padam Bahadur Khadka accused the Government of not being serious about the players’ health. “Government should ensure proper insurance facility for players. If they are injured they don’t get proper treatment and eventually their playing career ends. So providing them proper insurance plan can help them overcome such issue and contribute for the country’s sports sector,” said Khadka.
