KATHMANDU, September 21: Gyanendra Malla's 100 runs from 123 deliveries which included 13 fours and a six helped Nepal cricket team to seal the second practice match victory by 52 runs. Nepal played against the Mylapore Recreation Club (MRC) at SRM University Cricket Ground, Chennai.

Spinners Susan Bhari (2), Sagar Pun (2), Sandeep Lamichhane (1), and Dipendra Airee (2) combined to share seven wickets to limit MRC on 199 runs in allocated 50 overs for the loss of eight wickets. Second highest scorer of the MRC innings Sudhan Sanjeev (37) was dismissed run-out by the combined efforts of Dipendra Airee and Binod Bhandari. R Vivek (38) and Md Asif (33) were looking good at the score of 121/2 in 28th over when Susan Bhari brought Nepal back into the match picking up two of the first three MRC wickets. A Rathnam (35) made some late order runs but it was too late for MRC as they finished 52 runs short of Nepal total.

Earlier, Malla (100 retired out) and Sagar Pun (25) shared an opening partnership of 67 runs to provide a good platform to Nepal innings. Malla was retired out after getting to his century. Sharad Vesawkar (48) promoted at number three managed three boundaries but missed on his half-century by a couple of runs. Late order cameos from Paras Khadka (22) & Karan KC (20) smashing three and two sixes respectively boosted Nepal score to near five runs per over. Sompal Kami (16 not out) then propelled Nepal total to 251 in 50 overs for the loss of six wickets. Airee was dismissed for three runs and Binod Bhandari failed to open his account. M Ganesh Moorthi, AVR Rathman and N Harish chipped in with two wickets each for MRC.

Nepal won the first practice match against Dindigul Dragons on Tuesday. Nepal will play the third practice match on Saturday. The opposition team has not been announced yet. Nepal’s national cricket team is on tour to Chennai as a preparation for upcoming ICC World Cricket League Championship matches against Hong Kong.
