KATHMANDU, July 27: Federal Socialist Forum Nepal Chairman Upendra Yadav has intensified political meetings to prevent Madhesi People’s Rights Forum, Democratic (MPRF-D) Chairman Bijaya Kumar Gachchhadar from joining the new government to be formed by the Nepali Congress-CPN (Maoist Center) alliance.

Yadav, who is a key player of the United Democratic Madhesi Front (UDMF), has called a meeting so as to persuade him not to join the government.

“We have not formally decided to join the government yet. A meeting has been called to take a decision on this matter,” said MPRF senior leader Jitendra Dev told Republica Online.

However, Yadav did not reveal anything whether Upendra Yadav was lobbying his party not to join the government.

MPRF, a ruling coalition of the Oli-led government, had pulled out of the government one day before KP Oli resigned as prime minister.

Gachchhadar had made up his mind to join the next government after being offered two ministerial portfolios, according to sources.

At a meeting with the NC-Maoist alliance held in NC Parliamentary Party meeting in Singha Durbar recently, Yadav had floated a demand saying that they should not involve Gachchhadar in the new government.

“NC-Maoist Center alliance should not involve Gachchhadar in the new government if the alliance wants to cooperate with the UDMF,” Sadbhawana Party General Secretary Manish Suman quoted Yadav as floating condition at the meeting.

Other Madhesi leaders are persuading Gachchhadar to remain out of the next government.
