KATHMANDU, Oct 23: Everest Premier League 2017 Player Auctions was conducted on Monday inside the closed rooms of Annapurna Hotel for the second edition of the league.

With the league starting in December, teams had the auction as a launchpad to decide their strategy for the season in terms of players required and areas they need to improve upon.

In terms of the big bucks spent, the youngsters Aarif Sheikh (Bhairahwa Gladiators) and Sandeep Lamichhane (Lalitpur Patriots) were the most expensive players of the auction along with Binod Bhandari (Pokhara Rhinos) and Karan KC (Biratnagar Warriors). They were claimed by respective franchises via a lucky draw after the bids hit the upper ceiling of Rs 175, 000 set by the organizing committee.

Mehboob Alam (Lalitpur Patriots), Sagar Pun (Kathmandu Kings XI), Basant Regmi (Biratnagar Warriors) and Pradeep Airee (Bhairahwa Gladiators) reached or crossed the Rs 150, 000 mark before going to respective franchises.

Nepalgunj's Amar Singh Rautela (Kathmandu Kings XI) and Biratnagar's Pushpa Thapa (Biratnagar Warriors) were the highest bid uncapped players from the auction with figures standing at Rs 75, 000.

The current experienced players like Anil Mandal and Mahesh Chhetri were unsold in the auctions whereas former players like Manjeet Shrestha, Sanjam Regmi, and Paresh Lohani also could not find suitors for the second edition of EPL t20 tournament.

Foreign players are yet to be announced for the tournament.
