KATHMANDU, Nov 17: Chiefs of the left alliance parties have assured voters of prosperity in the country once they form a stable government after the upcoming parliamentary polls.

Addressing election campaigns jointly in Baglung, Parbat and Syangja districts on Thursday, CPN-UML Chairman K P Oli and CPN (Maoist Center) Chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal urged voters to give the alliance a majority   in the elections.

Accusing the ruling Nepali Congress (NC) of failing to bring about development in the country even after forming majority governments in the past, the leaders of the two communist parties vowed to work for the next five years for  development and prosperity .
"No one can stop the left alliance from forming a majority government after the polls," Oli said, addressing a mass meeting in Syangja. "Let's start celebrating a left government in the country."
UML chief Oli  announced that unification with the Maoists will be finalized soon after the polls in order to form a stable government for the next five years.

"We are short of time for party unification with the Maoists before the polls; so it will be done immediately after the polls. We have also finalized who shall be the prime minister and the president," said Oli in Parbat.

Addressing the mass rally in Syangja, Oli promised to increase the old-age allowance to up to Rs 5,000 a month. . He said the NC was scared of the left alliance heading towards forming a  majority government for the next five years.

Blaming the NC for political instability and lack of development in the country, Maoist Chairman Dahal said Nepal  will turn into a museum if the NC wins the election yet again.
"Only a left government can lead the country to  development. People are  excited at the prospect of political stability, development and prosperity under the left government," Dahal said, addressing another mass meeting in Baglung.

"NC was in power for about 40 years  while the communist forces remained divided. We will lead the country for the next 50 years after securing a majority  in the upcoming polls," Dahal said in Parbat. The former prime minister also claimed that   Girija Prasad Koirala had entrusted him with the responsibility of completing  the remaining tasks of the peace process.
"Had Madan Bhandari  not been killed the country would already have a majority government of communist parties, " he said adding, "Bhandari was killed eight days before his (Dahal's) scheduled meeting with him".

Both Oli and Dahal expressed their commitment to a democratic system in the country, refuting allegations of  rival parties that a left government would impose a communist system if it came to power.

Addressing the mass rally in Baglung, Chairman of Rastriya Janamorcha Chitra Bahadur KC, an ally of the left alliance, claimed that the NC would help bring about a constitutional amendment if it won the election. "India wants to severe the ties of Madhes to the rest of the country through a constitutional amendment and the prime minister  assured India of such an amendment during his recent  visit there," said KC.

Stating that NC shouldn't claim sole credit  for  major political achievements in the country, KC said that the communist forces have always worked together with the NC in such endeavours.
