KATHMANDU, Nov 17: Left alliance CPN-UML and CPN (Maoist Center) have expedited their election campaign with an agreement to unify after the elections.

They were arch rivals just before the formation of the left alliance. At one context in the past CPN-Maoist Center Chairman Dahal had come down heavily on UML senior leader Madahv Kumar Nepal terming him as 'poisonous tree' (bisbriksha). Dahal had nominated Nepal as a lawmaker to the first Constituent Assembly who later became the Prime Minister of Nepal ousting Dahal. Nepal had lost the elections to the first Constituency Assembly.

Almost a decade after Maoist Chairman Dahal termed Nepal as an ‘poisonous tree’, Nepal, in an  interview with Nagariknews, has reacted to Dahal’s previous statement. He said, “the essence of beauty lies on the eye of a beholder rather than the object itself. The same thing can be viewed differently when looked from different perspectives.” Nepal said that he took the statement positively and decided to join the left alliance.

Full interview will be published shortly:
