New voters excited in Province-4

POKHARA, Dec 7: Bishal Kandel, 22, was in Malaysia for the last four years. The local of Pokhara returned home right before the local level election. However, he could not vote. His name was not on the voters' list. This time, he has registered his name and will be voting for the first time on Thursday during the parliamentary and provincial polls.

 “I could not vote in the local election. Then I registered my name in the list and now I am a voter,” said an excited Kandel. “I am happy,” he added. 

He received his voter identity card on Wednesday. He is not going to miss the chance to vote at any cost, he asserted. “Youths like us must take elections seriously. We shape the country,” he said. 

Excitement among all new voters is just the same. According to the District Election Office, Kaski, there are 30,641 new voters this time compared to the local level elections. Similarly, additional 17,000 voters in Tanahun and 18,785 in Syangja have been registered in Province-4. In Parbat, the number of new voters is 8,057. 

“This is my first time. I am excited about voting,” said Dhanumaya Tripathi of Pokhara. “We are participating in an important event,” she added. 

According to Gangalal Subedi, regional election officer, people, in general, are happy about the historic elections. Moreover, the first-timers seem to be more excited. “Number of new voters is huge. They are really excited,” he said.
