Journalist KC bags 'NAJA Rural Outstanding Journalism Award'

KATHMANDU, Aug 5: Journalist Janak KC from Jajarkot has received this year's 'NAJA Rural Outstanding Journalism Award'. President of the Federation of Nepali Journalists Dr Mahendra Bista and senior vice chairman of the Nepal America Journalists' Association (NAJA) Gunaraj Luitel jointly handed over the award to Janak amid a programme organised by the FNJ in the Capital today. The award set up by the NAJA carries a purse of Rs 1, 11,111.

Meanwhile, around Rs 250,000 collected by the NAJA was handed to journalist Narahari Acharya at the event.

Acharya, a Rautahat correspondent of the Rastriya Samachar Samiti (RSS), was injured in a road accident on June 12. He also lost his wife to the accident. Similarly, around Rs 24,000 collected by the RSS was also handed to Acharya.

The event was attended by RSS General Manager Nirmala Acharya, FNJ Vice Presidents Khil Bahadur Bhandari and Anita Bindu, General Secretary Ujir Magar, Secretary Prabhav Chalaune, Chairman of the Press Chautari Nepal Ganesh Basnet, communications expert Dr Kundan Aryal and Director General of the Department of Information Raghu Ram Bista among others.
