KATHMANDU, Jan 10: Departmental team Armed Police Force (APF) has moved closer to win the title as it defeated the other departmental team, Tribhuvan Army Club (TAC), 2-1 in the ongoing 16th National Women’s Football League under the National Sports Council (NSC) championship on Tuesday.

At the ANFA Complex in Satdobato, Lalitpur, two goals from Anita KC and Anita Basnet in the second half helped APF collect six points with a vital win over TAC in the super league.

TAC and Nepal Police Club (NPC) have accumulated three points each, while Far-western Region, who has lost both its super league matches, sits at the bottom of the table.

Krishna Khatri gave TAC the lead in the 17th minute of the match taking advantage of a mistake from APF’s goalkeeper Tumbapo Subba.

KC equalized for APF in the 50th minute of the match utilizing a ball coming from Sabitra Bhandari’s header which hit the post. Basnet, then, scored the winning goal for APF seven minutes before the end of the match and gave the departmental team the all important three points.

APF was limited to 10 players after Manmaya Limbu was shown the second yellow card in the third minute of injury time.

Likewise in the first match of the super league, NPC defeated Far-western with a 1-0 victory in a competitive match. Rupa Magar’s 31st minute strike was enough for NPC to win the match.

In the last match of the super league on Thursday, TAC will take on Far-western, while APF will face NPC.
