16 deceased of Chhintang incident declared as martyrs

Government has decided to declare the deceased of Chhintang incident as martyrs.The meeting of the Prime Minister and Council of Minister held at Singha Durbar on Friday decided to declare the victim of the incident as martyrs. 16 people were killed during the cultural program organized in Dhankuta in 1979 in police firing.

'Development and good governance are major responsibility'

CPN (Maoist Centre) Chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal has said that development and good governance are the major responsibilities in the coming days. At a cadres training organised by CPN (MC) at Beni today, Chairman Dahal said that the country has moved ahead towards the path of prosperity by institutionalizing the achievements gained from political movements. 

NSU handover dust and mask to Deputy-Mayor

Nepal Student Union NSU) has organized a stage-in-protest for one hour in front of Kathmandu Metropolitan City office gate on Friday against the air pollution in the city.  Stating that the pollution level of the city is an alarming level, the student union urged KMC and the government to take initiation to control the pollution of the city. During the program, the students handed over dust and masks to Deputy Mayor Hari Prabha Khadgi as a symbol of their protest.

Tobacco Control Convention Strategy-2030 launched

The Ministry of Health has launched the Tobacco Products Control Convention Strategy-2030 with the objective of reducing the tobacco consumption in the long term. It is believed that the strategy will provide guidelines to the policy makers, service providers, the related government ministries and bodies, and the national and international non-governmental organisations in the development and implementation of tobacco control programmes.

Four sitting judges of the Supreme Court of India on Friday said the administration of the highest court was not in order, warning that democracy would not survive in the country unless the institution was preserved. 

Saudi women to enter stadiums for first time to watch soccer

Saudi women will be allowed for the first time to enter a sports stadium to watch a soccer match between two local teams, though they will be segregated from the male-only crowd with designated seating in the so-called “family section.” The first stadium is to open its doors to women in the Red Sea city of Jiddah on Friday.
