Tiger census begins

NAWALPARASI, Jan 13: The counting of tigers in the community forests of Nawalparasi (east) has been initiated. The counting was forwarded in the community forests with the installation of camera trapping technology with the joint efforts of National Trust of Nature Conservation (NTNC), National Park, Hariyo Ban and other organizations. 

Technicians' teams have been deployed in Thumsi community forest of Gaindakot, Pithauli of Kawasoti, Tamaspur and Chormara of Madhyabindu, and Dumkibasi of Binayitribeni areas with the equipments of camera trapping, 

Secretariat member of the Federation of Community Forestry Users Nepal (FECOFUN) Nawalparasi district Homnath Pandey said that census of tiger was started by the technicians' teams. 

Acting Chief of Bio-Diversity Conservation Centre of Sauraha, Chitwan Ram Kumar Aryal said that at least 70 cameras would be installed in 70 locations of the national park and buffer zones, and community forests. Similarly, elephants would be used in case it was needed.
