Nepathya starts tour in Damak

KATHMANDU, Jan 14: Nepathya has kick started their concert tour with a power packed show in Damak of Jhapa on Friday. According to the press statement released by Nepa-laya, more than 5,000 audience from Damak and surrounding towns of Birtamode, Bhadrapur, Dharan and Biratnagar had gathered to witness the 25 year celebration of their favorite legendary folk rock band, Nepathya.

This was Nepathya’s fourth appearance in Damak since 2003.  However, this was their first open air event. The band had arrived in Damak a few days ago with five trucks of technical equipment. The equipment transported from Kathmandu were set up at the premises of Saraswati School, which provided a visual treat to the attending audience.

The show kicked off at 5:30 pm to the tick of the timer ticking on the big screen. After screening two Nepathya videos, the band started playing the show with their new unreleased number ‘Kuroop Anuhar’. The synchronized light choreography, which started the show, was a welcome delight for the audience waiting for the band’s performance.

The show comprised songs from Nepathya’s initial days as well as their new numbers. The band performed their first song ‘Aaganai Bhari’ to their recently released ‘Sirfula’ and ‘Koshiko Paani’. Other songs like ‘Chari Maryo’, ‘Resham’, ‘Bhedako Oon’, ‘Taal ko paani’ and ‘Jogle Huncha’, among others filled up the tale of their 25-year journey.

As the show proceeded, Amrit in his signature style of blending contemporary issues as part of his musical package did not spare the opportunity to talk about Dr Govinda KC, a person whom he has revered. “Dr KC is an icon of integrity and has been fighting for our health, education and other issues for long. He is in his 14th hunger strike and I appeal all of you to support him.” The crowd roared in acceptance. He then went on to say, “I take this applaud as your support to Dr KC, Thank you.” He then went on to sing the Ralpha song – ‘Gaun Gaun Bata’ and then ended the show with ‘Jangi Nishan’. The show was locally organized by 3ink Vision, Jay Media and Purwanchal Rocks. Nepathya now moves on to Narayanghat to perform there on January15, which also coincides with the Maghe Sakranti festival.
