KATHMANDU, Jan 18: Nangsal Devi Tamang of Departmental team Tribhuvan Army Club (TAC)’s Nangsal Devi Tamang has advanced into the women’s singles quarterfinals of the ongoing 39th National Badminton Tournament under the National Sports Council (NSC) Championship on Wednesday, beating Central Region’s Tara Ale 21-3, 21-3. 

In the other matches played at the Covered Hall of Bhimduttanagar in Kanchanpur, Eastern Region’s Sunaina Mukhiya set the last eight clash with Tamang defeating Eastern’s Seema Rajbanshi 21-8, 21-12. 

Anu Maya Rai of TAC saw off Central Region’s Sofi Khatri 21-11, 21-19, Armed Police Force (APF)’s Sobha Gauchan of Armed Police Force (APF) overcame Mid-western Region’s Samjhana Sharma 21-10, 22-20, Eastern’s Neeta Lamsal narrowly beat TAC’s Rasila Maharjan 21-17, 4-21, 22-20, Sikhsya Shrestha of Central defeated Shreya Pradhan 21-9, 21-8, Eastern’s Jesica Gurung saw off APF’s Sieeta Rai 21-14, 21-6 and TAC’s Amita Giuri crushed neat Mid-western’s Durga Sharma 21-14, 21-9 to secure the quarterfinal berths. 

Similarly, TAC’s Ratnajit Tamang and APF’s Deeipesh Dhami booked their pre-quarterfinal spots. 

Tamang saw off Central’s Deepesh Shakya 21-7, 21-8 to booked his meetings with APF’s Nir Bikram Devkota, who defeated Mid-western’s Saharoj Ansari 21-7, 21-8. Likewise, APF’s Dhami overcame Far-western’s Devraj Rana 21-10, 21-10 and secured its his pre-quarterfinal encounter with TAC’s Rukesh Maharjan, who beat Mid-western’s Bilal Waris 21-9, 21-10. 

Also, TAC’s Pawin Linthep narrowly got edged past Western’s Bhugol Gurung 21-17, 9-21, 23-21, while APF’s Sajan Krishna Tamrakar defeated Mid-western’s Irfan Ansari 21-9, 21-11. 

Similarly, Far-western’s Prince Dahal beat Eastern’s Sujan Shrestha 21-14, 21-14, while Nepal Police Club (NPC)’s Deepak Bohara overcame Western’s Bishal Khadka 21-6, 21-9. Likewise, TAC’s Praphul Maharjan saw off APF’s Suman Limbu 25-23, 21-8. 

Also, in the tournament organized by Nepal Badminton Association (NBA), TAC’s Nabin Shrestha thumped Mid-western’s Shiva Thapa 21-5, 21-7, APF’s Bijit Thapa beat Eastern’s Pranish Singh Thakuri 21-17, 21-15, NPC’s Jeevan Acharya defeated Far-western’s Sunil Joshi 21-17, 10-21, 22-20. 

Likewise, Eastern’s Bikash Shrestha earned a went through in walk- over rule from Western’s Bibek GC, while APF’s Gautam Kathayat overcame Mid-western’s Riyaj Ansari 21-18, 21-10. 

Also, Far-western’s Sanjeev Khadka claimed a rather struggleding past 21-13, 21-23, 21-18 set victory over Far-western’s Chiran Bista 21-13, 21-23, 21-18. 

In the mixed doubles’ category matches, Western’s pair of Jeevan Thapa and Sundara Khanal, Eastern’s Pranish Singh Thakuri and Jessica Gurung, APF’s Sajan Krishna Tamrakar and Sikshya Shrestha, Far-western’s Sanjeev Khadka and Yam Kumari Gurung, TAC’s Praphul Maharjan and Anu Maya Rai and APF’s Deepesh Dhami and Puja Shrestha also reached the quarterfinals defeating their respective opponents on the same day.
