Party leadership criticized in NC’s CC meeting

Most of the members have criticized the party leadership during the ongoing central committee meeting of Nepali Congress. Participating in the meeting, most of the members expressed their dissatisfaction over the naming of the provincial capital and the provincial chiefs. The meeting is focused on the election review.

Oli hints at reviewing appointment of provincial chief

CPN-UML chairperson and former Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli has hinted that the new government that would form by left alliance will review the appointment of new provincial chiefs and the announcement of the temporary capitals. Speaking with journalists at Tribhuvan International Airport while returning from Bangkok on Thursday, Oli said that the left alliance is not satisfied with the announcement of the name of the capital and chief of all provinces.

No one should carry out activities hampering NA election: CEC Yadav

Chief Election Commissioner Dr Ayodhee Prasad Yadav has urged all political parties to help give full shape to federal parliament by holding National Assembly election in a successful manner. Inaugurating the election operation and management training organised for election officers, assistant election officers and district election officers to be deputed in National Assembly election here today, CEC Yadav said that no one should carry out activities hampering the election management. 


Supreme Court strikes down Padmaavat ban, film to release across India

The Supreme Court on Thursday stayed a ban on Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s Padmaavat imposed by four states, ensuring an all India release of the Sanjay Leela Bhansali film on January 25. The ban was imposed by Gujarat, Rajasthan, Haryana and Madhya Pradesh despite the film being cleared by the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC). Despite the court order, protests against the film’s theatrical release continued in many states including Rajasthan and Chattisgarh.
