KATHMANDU, Jan 18: People from Tamang community has celebrated Sonam Lhosar with fanfare by extending greetings to one another and feasting on traditional cuisines today. 

According to Manju Shree calender, Tamangs divide their year into 12 cycles, each is given a special name, before the name of animals, former chair of Bauddhanath Area Development Committee Sampurna Bahadur Lama told. 

The Nepal Tamang Ghedung Association is organizing special programs in Tundikhel today to mark the festival.
