SINDHULI, Jan 23: District Traffic Police Office, Sindhuli has intensified timecard rule to minimize road accidents along the BP Highway. The timecard system has been stepped up concluding that the incidents of accidents are occurring due to over-speed.

Incidents of accidents did not seem to come to an end even though the timecard system was enforced since June 15, 2016 along Nepalthok-Bhiman road section in Sindhuli since the drivers were found overlooking the system.

The timecard system was enforced instructing that the vehicles have to be driven slowly, maintaining additional caution as the road is twisting and narrow along the BP Highway.

“We have started keeping a close tab on the timecard system implementation since we found the drivers neglecting the enforced rule and driving fast in the middle, taking a brisk pause at a restaurant and maintaining timecard rule upon arrival at the check post,” said DSP Binod Sharma of District Police Office, Sindhuli.

Especially microbuses ply along the BP Highway with high speed and often overtake the other vehicles.

BP Highway was constructed at the assistance of Japan government.

As many as 43 micro buses have faced music so far for breaching the timecard rule. According to an on-duty traffic police official, those vehicles facing the music were found to have crossed the road section within 72 minutes while the set time to distance is one and a half hours.

According to the timecard rule, heavy vehicles have to cross the Sindhuli-Khurkot road section within 1 hour and 50 minutes while small vehicles have to cross the road section within 1 hour and 30 minutes.
