PM Deuba likely to resign today, cabinet meeting in short while

KATHMANDU, Feb 14: Prime Minister Sher Bahadur Deuba is likely to resign from his post on Wednesday evening.

According to Minister for Commerce Meen Bahadur Bishwakarma, PM Deuba will tender his resignation after the Election Commission (EC) will submit the official result of House of Representatives under Proportional Representation (PR) electoral system to the President on Wednesday itself.

Speaking at a program in the capital, Minister Bishwakarma said “PM Deuba is all set to step down from the post. We are ready to leave. We are waiting for the EC to submit the result to the President.”

Meanwhile, the cabinet meeting has been called for late afternoon on Wednesday. According to Minister for Law Yagya Bahadur Thapa, the meeting is scheduled at Baluwatar.  

Meanwhile, the EC is preparing to submit the official result o the HoR under PR electoral system to the President. 

Nepali Congress President Deuba was elected as the 40th prime minister of Nepal on June 6, 2017, forming a coalition government with CPN (Maoist Center).
