Kwiks Basketball League from today

KATHMANDU, Feb 17: Kwiks Basketball League, the country’s first ever club level home and away double league round-robin basketball tournament is kicking off today. 

The tournament is organized by Play for Deprived Children Nepal in association with Nepal Basketball Association.

A total of eight teams are taking part in the tournament. The team will play each other home and away, said the organizers at a press meet in the capital on Friday. The tournament will conclude on March 31.

The one-and-a half month long tournament will feature 60 matches. The play offs will be held respectively at the home court of the first and the second placed teams, while the third place match and the final will take place at the NSC Covered Hall. 

The teams in tournament are South Siders, Team Budhanilkantha Muncipality, Himalayan Hounds, Golden Gate International College, Xavier International College, Kirtipur Basketball Team, Bishal Milan Kendra and the departmental team Tribhuvan Army Club (TAC), informed the organizers. 

The winner of the tournament will take home Rs 200,000, while the runner-up will purse Rs 100,000. Likewise, the third-placed team will bag Rs 50,000. 

Similarly, the most valuable player, the highest scorer, the best defender, the best emerging player and the best coach will be prized with a gift voucher worth Rs 10,000 each from ANTA. Also, the 28 man-of-the-matches will also be rewarded with a gift voucher worth Rs 5,000 from KTM City.
