49 confirmed dead in US-Bangla aircraft crash

KATHMANDU, March 12: Forty-nine people have been confirmed dead in the US-Bangla aircraft crash that occurred at the Tribhuvan International Airport at 2:18 pm on Monday.

According to SSP Bishwaraj Pokharel, spokesperson at Kathmandu Metropolitan Police Range Office (KMPRO), 49 were killed in the crash.

As many as 71 including four crew members were onboard the ill-fated Bombardier Dash Q-400 aircraft with Call Sign BS-211 operated by US-Bangla Airlines when it skidded off the runway and went out of control while while trying to land at the TIA. 

Among them, thirty-three were Nepali nationals, informed the Civil Aviation Authority of Nepal (CAAN).

According to SSP Pokharel, 21 are undergoing treatment at various hospitals including Kathmandu Medical College and Norvic International Hospital.
