The current generation is facing tough competition for getting employment opportunities which has compelled them to fly abroad in search of material prosperity and to maintain high self-esteem in society. They assume that living overseas will get them a standard lifestyle. 

And it is common for a boy here to ask for a girl working as a nurse or girl having competent knowledge in English. This in fact is the harsh reality of our society. And this is because Nepali education system gives little priority to skills-based practical approach. It is mostly limited to theoretical teaching. As a result, youths are attracted to foreign countries for better opportunities whether it be educational or employment. Furthermore, the wage people earn in Nepal is very low which cannot adequately fulfill the requirements that people aspire.

In today’s scenario people are emphasizing material-centric living. As a result, their daily expenses have increased. Nepali people prefer an easy and comfortable life in Nepal which is often not possible. In today’s globalized world, young people’s minds are drawn to the material prosperity that they see in America and Europe. They aspire of having prosperity, and leading a better and successful life. The Nepali people are gradually inclined toward individualistic life because of such materialistic thoughts.

The smart youth with good English and sound financial condition can go abroad themselves migrate on their own way. But those who feel difficulty doing IELTS or others English language tests plan to marry a nurse or some other girls having prospects of going abroad. I have heard many examples of marrying a girl who can help a boy go and get settled in a foreign country. 

It is a great loss for any country to see its smart youths move to other countries. Migration of educated young people to foreign lands will lead toward degradation of society. So, it is crucial for all to brainstorm on how to overcome such malady. The policy makers should seriously think how this trend could be stopped. The government should immediately come up with plans to retain the young brains in the country.
