Workshop on the Design and Implementation of Intervention Studies

KATHMANDU, March 17: A national workshop on best practice in the design and implementation of intervention studies for agriculture, nutrition and health is being hosted in Nagarkot, from March 19 to March 24. According to a press statement released by Nutrition Innovation Lab in Nepal, this activity is part of a long-term collaboration between Tufts University and Johns Hopkins University in the United States and the Child Health Division (CHD) of Nepal's Ministry of Health, Tribhuvan University Institute of Medicine, and Patan Academy of Health Sciences. The event is supported by the US Government’s Feed the Future Innovation lab for Nutrition.

It added that the one-week intensive workshop will discuss on the topic of ‘Design and Implementation of Intervention Studies’. Participants from numerous institutions from across Nepal will learn about key facets of the design and implementation of rigorous studies that determine the impacts of interventions that aim to improve nutritional status of the Nepali population. Participants will interact with government agencies that actively support nutrition research for policy making such as CHD as well as agencies such as USAID Nepal and UNICEF.

The press statement further added that the Nutrition Innovation Laboratory supports the goals of Feed the Future initiative, by pursuing cutting-edge, policy relevant, applied research on a range of issues that link agriculture, diets and nutrition in low income settings across Asia and Africa.
