KATHMANDU, March 21: Nepal Police personnel who were busy having their lunch at a mess operated by the Metropolitan Police Circle, Anamnagar were taken by surprise to see Home Minister Ram Bahadur Thapa all of a sudden before them. As the minister showed up at the mess, they in no time stood up from their respective seats to greet the Minister. They were urged to take their seats and keep eating.

They seemed clueless when the Minister proposed to have his lunch with them and asked whether lunch for him and his delegation team was available. He took his lunch in company with them.

Minister Thapa made a surprise visit to the circle at 10:15 today. He inspected the complaint section, women section, detention cell and a store room.

Today's menu for lunch in the circle included dal, rice, mixed curry of potato and cauliflower, green vegetables and potato pickle. The police personnel even did not get a moment to formally greet the minister.

After finishing his lunch, the minister directed them to get dedicated to the security of people.

Stating that he was aware of more discrimination in the Nepal Police ration system than other security bodies, he said he would do his best to end such inequality.

Earlier this morning the Home Minister visited the Nakkhu Jail in Lalitpur, the Metropolitan Police Range, Jawalakhel, and the Metropolitan Police Sector Pulchowk in the district. RSS
