KATHMANDU, April 5:  The meeting of Party Unification Coordination Committee of CPN-UML and CPN (Maoist Centre) ended inconclusively today.

In the meeting held at Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli’s official residence in Baluwatar, leaders have expressed their views on the reports submitted by two taskforce committee in Tuesday, said Narayan Kaji Shrestha, Maoist Center leader, who was present in the meeting.

“The meeting was likely to settle disputed issues relating to the unification between the two parties including a division of power, election symbol and the Maoists' demand for a formal recognition of the People's War in party statute.  But the meeting was over without entering into these issues”, said a leader Shrestha.

The next meeting is scheduled for April 10, after PM Oli returns from his state India visit.

The two taskforce committee submitted the political and ideological documents during a meeting on Tuesday.

Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli desired to settle these issues before his India visit slate but it was not fulfilled due to the Maoist Center demands an equal and dignified representation in the unified party.

The unification coordination committee meeting has already scheduled the date of a formal announcement of their unification for April 22, coinciding with the birth anniversary of Russian communist leader Vladimir Lenin and the day when the Nepal Communist Party was established.
