KATHMANDU, April 9: The Himalayan Rescue Association has deputed nine physicians for providing health services to the mountaineers in emergency. 

The Association has deputed two Nepali doctors and seven foreign doctors keeping in mind the health of the mountaineers from home and abroad who will be climbing various mountains in this spring season. 

Three doctors have been deputed at the Mt. Everest Base Camp, three doctors been sent to Pheriche of Solukhumbu and three doctors have been deputed at Mananggaon of Manang, the Association stated. 

Association's executive director Prakash Adhikari said physicians have been deputed taking into account the various health complications like high altitude sickness that the mountaineers might suffer from while climbing mountains above 3,000 metres altitude. 

The total 45 groups of mountaineers have acquired permission so far to climb various mountains, including the highest peak of the world Sagarmatha (Mount Everest), Mt. Annapurna and Mt. Amadablam this spring season, according to the Department of Tourism. 

Of them including mountaineers from home and abroad, 226 of 23 groups have got the permission to climb Sagarmatha, said Director General of the Department Dinesh Bhattarai. They have already set out for the expedition, it added. 

The Department has so far deputed 38 liaison officers for mountaineering. RSS
