Souls of my city: Fruits of struggle

Souls of my city: Fruits of struggle

Biraj Rajbansi of Morang was a small boy when his father passed away. Running away from home at that tender age, he struggled for years in different cities for survival.  “I ran away from my home when I was studying in Grade 6. My father passed away when I was a small boy. I came to Biratnagar and worked at a tea shop there for around four years,” said Biraj, 33.

He  then came to Kathmandu in search of his livelihood. It took some time for him to get settled in the capital city as he had no one to support him there. “As I didn’t know about the place I was just lost for some days. I took three rounds of Tudhikhel. I randomly asked one person to give me a job. Then I eventually got work at an eatery.” After years of struggling as an employee he decided to run his own business in a small scale. He decided to sell chatpate on a cart. “I had my own cart where I prepared chatpate and panipuri and served customers right there. Now I have my own chat and samosa hotel. All I have done throughout my life is hard work”, he said. He, has a wife, mother, two daughters and one son.
