UDAYAPUR, Aug 18:  The universe is enigmatic. The more we try to explore, the more mysteries lie before us, with weird incidents happening in front of our eyes, challenging the age of science.

Recently, a mysterious incident of this kind occurred in the northern Laphagaun VDC-1, triggering waves of horror in the villagers.

There is no mound of earth nearby, no jungle, nor any human settlements. What stand on a leveled field perched at the top of a hill are three houses, say locals. Three locals have been seriously injured in the past one week after being stoned by an ‘unseen power’ in the middle of the night and day, Yogendra Kumar Shrestha, a health assistant at Laphagaun Health Post, told Republica Online.

At first, a three-kilogram stone fell out of the blue into the house of a local in the middle of the night, injuring 11-year-old Sarita Tamang.  The condition of Sarita is critical now. On the second day, out of nowhere a lot of stones fell in the courtyard of Janamuni Rai’s, at noon. Rai who was working in the courtyard was injured. According to locals, Rai’s condition is also critical.

similarly, on the fourth day, 16-year-old son of Rai sustained injuries when stones fell from the sky in the middle of the day, said Dhruba Basnet of Laphagaun-3.

When the incident became a talk of the town, villagers gathered at Rai’s house and started observing the incident. To their shock, they witnessed the stones and frequent thuds of the stones time and again but they did not see where they came from.
District Secretary of CPN Maoist (Biplav group) Kedar Rai, who was staying at the     district headquarters Gaigthat, reached the incident site and confirmed about the incident.

“Ten villagers including myself went to the incident site to take stock of the incident. We stayed in the house overnight.  In the middle of the night stones started falling, all of a sudden. The fallen stones weighed three to five kilograms,” said Rai.
After hearing the incident, District Police Office, Udayapur has deployed a   team of police from Saune Police Post in the incident site and is investigating the incident.

According to Harka Bahadur Rai, Sarita Tamang, 11, who was injured with a stone by an ‘unseen power’ had disappeared at night some three months ago.

According to Sarita, a black-complexioned man with long hair took her to a jungle while she was sleeping with the other members of her family. The next morning he brought her back home before dawn.

The man told her not to tell the incident to anybody, warning that some untoward incident might befall, if told.

According to Rai, the unseen power starting troubling the villagers soon after Sarita failed to keep her promise and told the incident to her elder sister and them to the other people.
