KATHMAMDU, Aug 18: Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Home Affairs Bimalendra Nidhi is leaving for India as an special envoy of the government on Thursday.

The government is sending DPM Niddhi to India to bolster Nepal-India ties, to invite Indian President to Nepal and fix agendas of the imminent Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal’s India visit. 

“DPM and Minister for Home Affairs Bimalendra Nidhi is leaving for India on a five-day official visit,” Yadav Koirala, the spokesperson at the Ministry of Home Affairs, told Republica Online, adding, “DPM Nidhi will hold high-level political meetings during his India visit.”

As an special envoy,  Nidhi will hold high-level political meetings on Friday and Saturday. Nidhi will hold meetings with Indian President Pranab Mukherjee, Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Home Minister Rajnath Singh and Minister for External Affairs Sushma Swaraj.

During the meeting with high-ranking officials of India, Nidhi will apprise them of the latest political developments of Nepal and hand over an invitation letter sent by Nepal’s President Bidya Devi Bhandari to Indian President Pranab Mukherjee.

On Sunday Nidhi will remain busy with his personal work and will return home on Sunday.
