14 transport entrepreneurs taken under control

KATHMANDU, May 4: Police have arrested as many as 14 transport enterpreneurs from Dharan and Itahari, Jhapa following Home Minister Ram Bahadur Thapa's direction to arrest the office bearers of the transport committees for disrupting vehicular movements.

After the government has been taking the action against the transport entrepreneurs, most of the office bearers of the transport committees are in out of contact. 

The arrestees include Hari Bahadur Thapa, Secretay of Shapta Koshi Transport Entrepreneurs Association, Joint Secretary Ganseh Bista, Treasurer Suman Thapa.

Likewise, Mohanmani Baral, vice chairman of Eastern Nepal Transport Entrepreneurs Association, Krishna Prasad Subedi, chairman of Koshi Transport Entrepreneurs Association, General Secretary Netra Bahadur Thapa, Narendra Pomo, chairman of Samyukta Transport Entrepreneurs Association, Dhurba Ghimire, chairman of Itarahari Transport Entrepreneurs Association, informed DSP Narayan Prasad Chimoriya of District Police Office. 

Meanwhile, Mohan Prasad Upreti, chairman of Mechi Transport Entrepreneurs Association, Bhupal Oli, incumbent chairman of Himal Transport Entrepreneurs Association, Khagendra Upreti, chairman of Sagarmatha Transport Entrepreneurs Association, Director Buddha Tiwari, member Raj Kumar Pandey, Shyam Thapa and Keshab Giri, informed Rajesh Rai, Traffic Police Inspector of District Traffic Police Office, Jahpa. 

Transport Entrepreneurs have announced to halt the vehicular movements across the country on Friday against the government move to scrap the registration of transport syndicates. Short-route tempo, motorcycle, e-rickshaws are operating inside the city. 

Transport laborers are not supporting the protest of transport entrepreneurs. The Biplav group has announced the strike on Saturday. 

Police have arrested those who were protesting and burning tyres in front the police offices.
