KATHMANDU, May 11: Police have intervened at the Bibeksheel Sajha Party (BSP) office to remove a banner protesting the blockade imposed by the Indians in 2015.

The banner placed at the party headquarters at Bakhundol says the party welcomes Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi to Nepal but “hasn't forgotten the blockade”. Police reached the party office just when Modi was landing in Kathmandu from Janakpur.

A party central meeting was underway when police entered the office premises.Police removed the flex banner from the party office. Protesting the police intervention, leaders associated with the party are staging a protest at Lalitpur Police Office.According to party leader Ramesh Paudel, a team led by a DSP had intervened at the party office. “The Oli government is intolerant. It has curtailed our right to protest peacefully", he said.

Following the incident, Bibeksheel Sajha leaders approached Lalitpur District Administration Office to demand why the protest banner was taken away. But the police did not allow them to meet the administration chief and also took away another placard placed at party headquarters.
