Ex-footballer Mani Shah dies at 51

KATHMANDU, May 14: A gold-medalist of 1993 SAFF Championship, former Nepal mid-fielder Mani Bikram Shah died in Kathmandu on Monday, succumbing to a long fight against a liver disease. Shah was admitted to Norvic Hospital on Sunday evening after his health deteriorated. He was declared dead at 5:42 pm. He was 51. 

Shah’s body will be kept at All Nepal Football Association (ANFA) complex on Tuesday for condolence offerings, according to the ANFA spokesperson. The former football superstar of Nepal was working as a coach in recent times. He was also involved in hotel management. He has a wife and a daughter. He was 51. 

Shah had represented Nepal for over a decade, from 1985 to 1998, after making his debut at the age of 17 in the second edition of South Asian Football Federation (SAFF).
