Pilot duo killed in Makalu air crash

The pilot duo were killed in Makalu's air crash at Humla. The airplane, call sign 9 N AUJ had lost contact at 6:45 AM today was spotted at Kharpunath rural municipality-2 of Humla. The plane was carrying cargo from Surkhet to Simikot, Humla when it lost contact.  Those deceased are Captain Kiran Bhattarai and co-pilot Aditya Nepali.   

Kami Rita scales Everest for record 22 times

Kami Rita Sherpa, 48, scaled Mount Everest from Nepal side for the 22^nd time becoming the only mountaineer in the world to hold the record for most summits on Mt Everest. Kami has already climbed the world’s tallest peak 21 times successfully, a record shared by Apa Sherpa and Phurba Tashi Sherpa, both of whom have announced retirement.

CPN (ML) seeks resignation of Province 2 CM

The Communist Party of Nepal (Marxist-Leninist) has sought resignation of Province 2 Chief Minister Lalbabu Raut from the post, expressing its reservations to some of his acts during Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi's the recent Nepal state visit (May 11-12). The party general secretary CP Mainali said the chief minister of province formed as per the constitution, pleading before the foreign Prime Minister to interfere in the country's domestic affairs was against the constitution of Nepal and national integrity. 

119 out of 460 rural municipalities without electricity

While the country has been declared free from load shedding, 119 out of 460 rural municipalities are without energy facilities. At a program, speakers stressed the need to prioritize renewable energy promotion and development schemes to propel development and economic prosperity in rural parts of Nepal.

Saudi World Cup ref gets life ban for match-fixing attempt

Saudi Arabia has banned referee Fahad Al Mirdasi from football for life for a match-fixing attempt, weeks before he was due to fly to Russia to officiate at the World Cup, the country’s football federation (SAFF) said in a statement late on Tuesday. Al Mirdasi had confessed to offering to fix Saturday’s King’s Cup final on behalf of the Al Ittihad club, the SAFF said. 

Sandeep Lamichhane added to the ICC World XI

Success continued to follow Lamichhane when he became the first Nepali player to be picked in the IPL 2018 when he was signed up by Delhi Daredevils. He justified his selection when he returned figures of one for 25 on his debut against a Virat Kohli-led Royal Challengers Bangalore.
