KATHMANDU, Aug 25: Nilesh Shrestha of Boxing Fitness and Prerak Lama of Thankot have progressed to the quarterfinals in 60 kg of the 4th Nationwide and First Novice Boxing Tournament. Nilesh and Prerak overcame Indra Sunar of Surkhet and Basanta Bahadur Singh of Kailali respectively on the basis of points in the men's pre-quarterfinal in the novice section.

In other events of the novice section, Hansal Limbu of Thankot B defeated Meghdut's Sakendra Shakya in the pre-quarterfinal of men's 60 kg event on the second day of the tournament. Karma Tshering Sherpa of Banuj also made it to the quarterfinals beating Yubraj Shretha of Kaski in the same event.

Similarly, Sajan Giri of the Kathmandu Youth Boxing defeated Sidhartha Gurung of Surkhet and Lalitpur's Bharat Shahi crushed Pukar Shrestha of Nepal Youth Boxing B on the basis of points.

In the 64 kg event, Banke's Yubraj Chaulagain overcame Amrit Gurung of Kaski B. Jeewan Bhattrai of Kaski defeated Mahabir Limbu of Damak on the basis of points.

Bhanu Bista of Kanchanpur beat Kaski's Bishnu Gautam on the basis of points in 46-49kg event. Likewise, Saroj Shrestha of Patan defeated Subash Ghimire of Makwanpur B, Dev Tamang of Naxal A defeated Saroj Pokharel of Central Boxing Training B, Sagar Thapa of Banke defeated Buddhi Lama of Makwanpur, Dharmendra Makhim of Damak defeated Prem Rana of Rupandehi, Dikshant Shrestha of Chitwan A defeated Om Pariyar of Chitwan B, Chandra Bahadur Thapa of Alfa defeated Rajib Rokka of Besi-gaun and Bikash Basnet of Central Boxing defeated Hibi Chandra Sampang of Thankot on the basis of points in the same weight category.

Similarly in 46-48 kg of women's open event, Tribhuvan Army Club's Lalita Maharjan and Gita Thapa Magar overcame Bhabya Gurung of Damak and Sharmila Lama of Bhaktapur respectively. In the same event APF duo Urmila Lama and Nangja Gurung defeated Asmita Thing of Hetauda and Asmita Duwal of Bhaktapur respectively.

Likewise, in 48-51 kg event, Meghdut's Mandira Patwar beat Rama Kumari Rana of Palpa, Kathmandu Youth Boxing's Mina Ghale beat Sanju Maya Thing of Hetauda B and Kailali's Susma Tamang beat Srijana Sunuwar of Hetauda.

Army duo Silu Dangol and Sonam Rokka defeated Ambika BK of Naxal A and Muga Maya Pakhrin of APF on the basis of points in 57-60 kg event.
