New NC ministers to take oath Friday

KATHMANDU, Aug 25: The new ministers to be appointed from Nepali Congress (NC) will take oath of office and secrecy on Friday morning.
 
According to sources, the Prime Minister’s Office has requested the President’s Office to schedule the oath-taking ceremony for 9 am tomorrow. The President’s Office is making necessary arrangements for that, the source added. 

Earlier today, NC settled the dispute over the number of ministers representing the party after Paudel faction finalized names for five ministers allocated for it in the Cabinet on Thursday.

The finalized list of ministers includes Sita Devi Yadav, Nabindra Raj Joshi, Dipak Giri, Hridayaram  Thani and Romi Gauchan Thakali, according to a source close to leader Ram Chandra Paudel.   

The Sher Bahadur faction has also finalized the names for four ministers. It has been confirmed that Arjun Narsingh KC, Prakash Saran Mahat, Bal Krishna Khad and Jeevan Kumar Shahi will represent the party in the Cabinet from the faction.

Source said that the name of one candidate is yet to be finalized. Mohan Basnet, Keshav Bahadur Budhathoki and Shankar Bhandari have claimed the post. 

Gagan Thapa will represent the NC in the government from Krishna Prasad Sitaula faction. 

Of the total 13 ministries allocated for the NC, the party has already sent two ministers in the Cabinet – Bimalendra Nidhi as Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Home Affairs and Ramesh Lekhak as Minister for Physical Planning and Transport.
