KATHMANDU, Aug 29: Tribhuvan Army Club was crowned the champion of the Fourth Nationwide and First Novice Boxing Tournament on Sunday bagging ten gold and three silver medals. Army clinched six gold and two silver in men's national event and four gold and one silver in women's section.

In the men's 49 kg event, Sushil Thapa of Naxal A claimed gold while APF's Ash Tmanag won silver and Army duo Karan Chaudhary and Tej Bahadur Deuwa won bronze.

Army players clean swept the 52 kg event, as Prem Chaudhary and Laxman Tamang claimed gold and silver respectively while Bikram Pariyar and Subha BK won bronze. 

In the men's 56 kg event, Army B's Bimal Roka came first, Puran Rai of APF came second while Gane Thapa and Roshan Lama claimed third position.

Nepal Police's Bhupendra Thapa won gold in men's 60 kg event while Army's Suresh Nepali won silver and Akash Subedi and Dinesh Chand of the same departmental team won bronze.

In the men's 64 kg event, Dipak Shrestha of Army won gold, Jhapa's Prakash Limbu won silver and Anuj Bhandari and Dorje Jityang of the same team won silver.

Army's Bishnu Ghale claimed gold in the men's 69 kg event, Sandip Byanju of Army B claimed silver while Sriyansu Prajapati and Sabin Darai of the same team claimed bronze.

Dipesh Lama of Army came first in the men's 75 kg event, Keshav Bam of Army's B team came second and Dibas Lal Limbu and Madhusudhan Shrestha of same team finished third.

In the men's 81 kg event, Max Basnet of Jawalakhel and Gokul Gurung of Army finished first and second respectively while Kaushal Jung Thapa and Bijay KC of Army finished third.

Mahendra KC of Army won gold in the men's 91 kg event, Om Prasad Gurung of Western Development Region won silver and Ganesh Gurung and Dipak Pariyar of the same team won bronze.

In the event of men's 91 kg plus, Army's Shyam Khadka and Damak's Dinesh Adhikari secured the top two positions while Asish Dawadi and Jagdish Bahadur Sethi of the same team came third.

Women's event
In the women's 48 kg event, Laita Maharjan of Army claimed gold, APF's Urmila Lama claimed silver while Gita Kumari Thapa Magar and Dibika Bhujel of same departmental claimed bronze.

Army players clean swept the women's 51 kg event as Minu Gurung clinched clinched gold, Mala Rai clinched silver and Nisa Gosai and Sita Pathak clinched bronze.

Meanwhile, late boxer Laxman Shamser Thapa's wife Naina Rajeshwari Thapa and Puskar Dhwoj Shahi's wife Honey Shah were honored on the same occasion.
