NEW DELHI, Aug 31: The Gorkha Samaj, an association of Nepali migrants in India, has withdrawn its case filed against an online shopping company Flipkart.

The Gorkha Samaj withdrew its case after the company agreed to rectify its advertisement saying that it had no intention to insult the Nepali Diaspora on the ground of ethnicity.

Issuing a statement on Tuesday, the Flipkart said, “We had no intention at all to insult the Nepali Diaspora. We apologize for the insult the advertisement inflicted on the Nepali people living around the globe. We will immediately change the Bhadgaule cap and the voice of the minor and represent the advertisement in a new way in a few days.”

Dinesh Sharma, a member of the Gorkha Youth and Students Union, said, “We have withdrawn the case after the Flipkart admitted its mistake and agreed to correct the advertisement.”

The Gorkha Youth and Students Union in India had filed a case against online shopping company Flipkart, for presenting a Nepali minor wearing a Bhadgaule cap in its recent advertisement.
