37th Education Day marked

KATHMANDU, Sept 9: The government felicitated good performing schools and outstanding students of the country on the occasion of the 37th Education Day and International Literacy Day on Thursday.

Among community/government schools, Shitala Devi Community School of Kaski was rewarded with Rs 200,000 and the Secondary School National Award, shield, flag and an appreciation letter during a function organized today by the Ministry of Education (MoE).
Similarly, five schools one each in the five development regions each were rewarded with Rs 100,000, a regional secondary school national award, shield, flag and an appreciation letter, according to the MoE. Baruneshwar Secondary School of Rampur, Okhaldhunga in Eastern Development Region, Narayani Model Secondary School of Bharatpur, Chitwan in Central Development Region, Ganesh Secondary School of Narayansthan, Baglung in Western Development Region, Guru Secondary School, Mugu in Mid-West Development Region and Navajyoti Biddhyagriha of Tikapur, Kailali in Far-west Development Region were rewarded.

Among private schools, Graded English Medium School (GEMS), Lalitpur was rewarded with Rs 200,000 along with the secondary school national award, shield, flag and appreciation letter.

Likewise, five private schools of five development regions were rewarded with Rs Rs 100,000 each, regional secondary school national award, shield, flag and an appreciation letter, according to the MoE. These schools are Balkalyan Biddhya Mandir of Biratnagar in Eastern Development Region, Little Angels School of Hattiban, Lalitpur in Central Development Region, Motherland Secondary School, Kaski in Western Development Region, Tulasi Boarding Secondary School of Tulsipur, Dang in Mid-west Development Region, and International Public School of Mahendranagar, Kanchanpur in Far-west Development Region.

Colleges and technical schools that significantly contributed to the society were also felicitated with the awards.

Meanwhile, President Bidya Devi Bhandari gave away honors to the dozens of students of higher education with the Nepal Bidya Bhushan during the function.

A total of 190 students were felicitated with Nepal Vidya Bhushan A, 81 students with the Nepal Vidya Bhushan B, and 15 students with the Nepal Vidya Bhushan C, according to the MoE. Similarly, 26 girl students were rewarded with the Nepal Chhatra Vidya Padak A and four girl students with the Nepal Chhatraa Vidya Padak B.
