Elderly person swept away by river

MELAMCHI, Sept 13: An elderly man was swept away by a river in Sindhupalchwok as he was returning home after drawing the first installment of house rebuilding grants from Melamchi. 

The deceased has been identified as Kundo Tamang, 72, of Banskharka VDC-5. 

He was washed away Monday by the Chalse River in Duwachaur VDC while crossing it, the Area Police Office Melamchi said.

Locals recovered his body along with Rs 50,000 same day later.

The body has been brought to the Melamchi Regional Hospital for a post-mortem. RSS
