3 killed in 3 weeks in Pokhara flash floods

POKHARA, Sept 19: A flash flood in Pokhara downtown triggered by heavy rainfall since Saturday evening has killed one person while another has gone missing. With this, the death toll from flash floods in Pokhara in the past three weeks has reached three.

The deceased have been identified as Krishna Bahadur Thapa, 56, of Lamachaur in Pokhara Sub Metropolis - 16. Thapa was swept away by the flash flood. He had sustained serious injuries and died on the way to the hospital, according to police. The man missing in the flash flood was of around 35 years, police said, adding search is underway.

Similarly, Surbir JC, 21, of Pokhara-6, lost his life on September 7. JC was crossing a bridge on a motorcycle when he fell into the flooded river.

Likewise, forty-one year old Mina Bhandari of Sinddhartha Chowk died on August 31 after falling into the opening of a drainage. She fell in the opening of the drainage during flashfloods and died. Her body was recovered from the drainage the next day.
