KATHMANDU, Sept 18: Former national player and captain of Nepali National Football team Uprendra Man Singh has announced his candidacy for the post of vice president of All Nepal Football Association (ANFA) on Monday.

Organizing a press meet at the Semi Covered Hall of National Sports Council, Tripureshwor, Singh said that his vice presidential candidacy is to bring a complete overhaul in the Nepali football and to represent the voices of the entire football players, coaches, referees and other people, who have devoted their lives in the  Nepali football, in the policy making level of ANFA.

“To take the Nepali football to a new height by resolving the existing issues, all three organizations - All Nepal   Football Players’ Association, National Football Coaches’ Association and National Football Referees’ Association – proposed my name for the post of vice president of ANFA and I accepted the offer,” Singh said during the meeting.

Singh, who is also the president of All Nepal Football Players' Association, is a common candidate of National Football Coaches' Association, National Football Referees' Association and his own association for the upcoming ANFA election to be held on October 24. 

The ANFA is holding the election for the vacant  posts of  president and vice president as Ganesh  Thapa was suspended as ANFA president while vice president Lalit Krishna Shrestha passed away. 

Singh, who played as a goalkeeper for eight years in the Nepali national team, is currently the president and head coach of Bhaktapur-based B Division Club Madhyapur Youth Association.
