BIRATNAGAR, Sept 20: Discussions on what kinds of school education are to be followed in the federal setup have started in the districts.

As the State Restructuring Committee has started recommending models of Village Councils and Municipal Councils, the stakeholders at the local level have been organizing conferences to discuss possible model of education system.

A discussion program was organized at Biratnagar on Monday about the school education system at federal structure. In a program organized by Education Helpline Biratnagar, participants suggested conducting vocational educational system right from the school level.

Education system should ensure that education produces skilled manpower, the participants said, adding that skill-oriented education helps ending the existing problem of unemployment.

“As the policies adopted by education is unable to meet the demand of job in the market, this education system is only increasing unemployment,” said Dr Bidhya Nath Koirala. Giving various example of federal structure, Koirala said, “All countries have different education policies.”

According to him, there would be a problem of having clear national education policy when different provisions have different policies. He further said that by making education policies at the local level, our country would be like United States of America, Australia and India and suggested to make common central and provisional specific educational policies.

Various dignitaries such as professor Khagendra Acharya, Nagesh Koirala of Nepali Congress and Mahesh Regmi of CPN-UML of Morang, who attended the program stressed on the importance of job-oriented education policies.
