KATHMANDU, June 22: The deadly earthquake in April last year killed her only son and daughter, destroyed her home, and compelled the family to relocate from their original place.

Nanimaiya Koirala of Kalyanpur-1, Agingare, Nuwakot had not even fully recovered from the agony of losing two of her children when another tragedy struck on Monday. Her husband, Madhusudhan Koirala, was among those killed in the Kabul attack. Twelve Nepalese security guards were killed when a Taliban suicide bomber detonated his suicide vest in Kabul, the capital city of Afghanistan, Monday morning.

Nanimaiya fainted the moment she learnt about the death of her husband. She is in a semiconscious state since.

The family had rented a room in Lolang area of Tarakeshwar municipality, Kathmandu, since moving from Nuwakot. Nanimaiya has been living with her three daughters in Kathmandu.
Her relatives informed that Koirala had lost her seven-year-old son Sisir, and her youngest, nine-year-old daughter, Swastika, in the earthquake last year.

Madhusudhan had returned to Nepal in April on the death anniversary of their children. He returned to Kabul on May 1.

Since is retirement from the Nepalese Army, Madhusudhan had been serving at the Canadian Embassy in Kabul for the last three years. He had composed songs in memory of his two children who died in the earthquake.
