KMC speeds management of stray dogs

KATHMANDU, Sept 30: The Kathmandu Metropolitan City (KMC) has sped up the campaign to manage street dogs in Kathmandu district. 

Under the campaign, the metropolis has already sterilized altogether 180 dogs. Of them, 40 were sterilized in Singha Durbar area, 20 in Basantapur area and the rest in various other places inside Kathmandu district, according to Chief of Public Health Division at KMC Office, Hari Shrestha. 

The three-year campaign, launched since early March this year, aims to manage street dogs in all 35 wards in the city. 

KMC has divided the city into eight regions to phase the campaign to manage estimated 22,000 street dogs in the city whose population is menacing public of dog-bite and various kind of infections from rabid dogs, said Chief Shrestha. RSS
