Government focused on holding local body elections: Minister Chaudhary

KANCHANPUR, Oct 14: Minister for Agricultural Development Gauri Shankar Chaudhary has said the government's attention was focused on holding the local body elections. 

Minister Chaudhary said this while addressing the inaugural function of the Chaturdashi cultural fair at Sitabasti, Punarbas Municipality-3 in Kanchanpur district on Thursday. The fair is organized by the local Navodaya Jeevan Shakti Youth Club. 

He reiterated that holding the local body election was necessary for the effective implementation of the constitution. 

"The government is doing internal homework for the elections," he said, adding that the government was effortful towards creating an environment conducive for the polls while working in cooperation with the Madhesi and the Tharu communities that are in agitation. The fair will last for three days. 

Meanwhile, Minister Chaudhary also carried out an on-site inspection of the Pyaratal area, which has come under increasing encroachment by India. 

In course of the inspection, he acquired information from the locals regarding incidents of encroachment of the international border by Indians. The Minister assured the locals that he would raise the issue of border encroachment in the Cabinet. 

Also on Thursday, Minister Chaudhary inspected the swimming pool constructed by the Jeevan Shakti Lower Secondary School at Punarbas Municipality. It is stated that the swimming pool was constructed at a cost of more than Rs 2 million. RSS
