International meet on material science begins in Pokhara

POKHARA, Oct 19: Scientists from 16 countries of the globe have been in Pokhara since October 17 to discuss about latest researches and studies on material science and engineering. 

They will stay here for two more days in course of attending the ongoing four-day Kathmandu Symposia on Advanced Material Science organised by Nepal Polymer Institute with the support from the Nepal Academy of Science and Technology, the Pokhara University and German-based Institute of Polymer Research (IPW). 

The gathering will focus on the discussions about facilitating human life with the use of nano materials and addressing human needs utilising materials available on the Earth. 
The participants of the conference will also share their experiences and knowledge with each other. 

According to event coordinator Rameshwor Adhikari, 180 scientists from Nepal, Pakistan, Bangladesh, China, Italy, the Czech Republic, Sweden, Japan, Korea, Germany and South Africa are now available in the beautiful city Pokhara for a conference. 

The four-day conference that kicked off Monday has started in-depth discussions about latest research and studies undertaken in material science and engineering, it is said. 

Discussions about the use of traditional herbs will be held on the sidelines of the conference. 

Working papers on the subjects of nanotechnology and biotechnology will be presented and discussed in the conference. 

Adhikari, highlighting the need of further research and study in material science and engineering in Nepal, said a workshop on material science will be held in Chitwan (October 22) and Biratnagar (October 24) immediately after the conference. RSS
