"Reduce load shedding hours," instructs Chief Secretary to Ministries

KATHMANDU, Oct 20: The government has decided to issue an instruction to the concerned ministries to work for the reduction of load shedding hours in accordance with the action-plan prepared by the previous government.

The meeting held at the office of the Prime Minister and Council of Ministers coordinated by Chief Secretary Dr Somlal Subedi on Thursday took a decision to this effect. 

The meeting issued directive to the Ministry of Energy to work towards reaching the production of at least 200 MW electricity by the end of this fiscal year, for the action plan aims to achieve the power generation at 200 mega watt within the current fiscal year. 

Currently, the electricity generation in the country stands at 83 MW. 
The Ministry also has been instructed to adopt alternative measures for power production in view of reducing load shedding hours in the upcoming winter. 

A press statement released by Chiranjivi Poudel, Under-Secretary and Assistant Spokesperson at the Office of Prime Minister and Council of Ministers stated that MoE decided to streamline the production, transmission and distribution of electricity for a long haul. 

To achieve this target, the meeting decided to conduct a thorough study to gauge the power production capacity of the state-funded hydro power projects as well as the private sector, requirement of human and other resources and the like. RSS
