BANEPA, Oct 21: Minister for Foreign Affairs Dr Prakash Sharan Mahat has said that Nepal-India relations was multi-faceted. 

Addressing a seminar on 'Nepal-India relations' organized by the Nepal Centre for Contemporary Studies at Dhulikhel in the district today, Minister Mahat said that the issues of bilateral ties should be discussed through diplomatic channel. He ruled out that such serious diplomatic issues should not be cried on the streets. He added that the government was serious to promote national need and interest. 

Minister Mahat further opined for not politicizing the foreign policy and diplomacy of the country. He added that Nepal held talks with India and China in same issues regarding the national interest and objectives during his recent India visit in connection with participating in the BRICS-BIMSTEC Outreach Summit. 

In another note, Minister Mahat denies Nepal's weakness for the postponement of the SAARC Summit. 

Similarly, former Prime Minister Dr Baburam Bhattarai, speaking at the same program, said that Nepal (chair of the SAARC) and India (largest country in SAARC) should initiate to sort out the problems surfaced in the regional body. 

He opined for ending political instability to strengthen political culture and national development. 
Likewise, Indian ambassador to Nepal Ranjit Rae said that Nepal's development would be in high priority if a strong political consensus was forged. 

Proposed Ambassador of Nepal to India, Deep Kumar Upadhyay has stressed on ensuring transit rights adding that Nepal-India relations was unique as it could not be compared with others. 
As many as five working papers would be presented and discussed in a-two-day seminar. 

A total of 31 participants (six from India and 25 from Nepal) are attending the seminar. RSS
