KATHMANDU, Oct 24: Sadbhawana Party Chairman Rajendra Mahato has accused the three major political parties of conspiring against the country in the name of impeachment motion against CIAA chief Lokman Singh Karki.

Taking to Republica Online on Monday,  Mahato said that the CPN-UML, CPN (Maoist Center) and Nepali Congress have registered the impeachment motion against CIAA chief Karki to deliberately sideline the major agenda of the country.  

“This is a country of conspiracies. The national agenda has been sidelined deliberately by filing an impeachment motion against Karki,” said Mahato.

Mahato further said that the three major parties should have been engaged in the constitution amendment and implementation process instead of bringing in the impeachment motion against Karki.

“The impeachment issue of Lokman does not impact us,” said Mahato, adding, “The three parties are conspiring against federalism in the name of  the impeachment issue. We are against it."  Mahato held that the constitution amendment is necessary prior to holding elections in January, 2018.

“It is unfortunate  that a government employee (Lokman Singh Karki) issue becomes a national issue at a time when the country should have been engaged in the constitution amendment process,” said he.

Mahato objected to the three parties saying that they did not consult them over the issue of impeachment of Lokman nor did they include a lawmaker from the Madhesi parties in the impeachment committee.
