KATHMANDU, Oct 25: Teenager swimming sensation of Nepal Gaurika Singh has donated her 2016 Rio Olympic swimsuit to the International Olympic Committee's (IOC) heritage. 

Gaurika, who set a record as the youngest Olympian of Rio Olympics at 13 years and 255 days on August 7, gave away her swimsuit and googles to the Olympic Museum . Her Olympic kits will either be decorated at the Lausanne based Olympic  Museum or will be a part of travelling exhibition of IOC's cultural and educational projects developed by the Olympic Foundation of Culture and Heritage, according to a letter sent to Gaurika by IOC President Thomas Bach.

The IOC has also presented Gaurika with a donor's certificate in recognition of her support to the Olympic movement. 

“Athletes are the heart of the Olympic Movement. By giving your sports equipment to the IOC and Olympic Museum, you share a key moment of your history with the public,” the letter sent by Bach states. “The IOC thanks you for making such a unique gift to us and helping to make thousands of visitor of all generations dream.”

The Olympic Meuseum has also offered her a free entry round the year. “The Olympic Meuseum also opens you its doors for free all round the year. Do not hesitate to inform us of your next stay in Lausanne so that we can arrange a visit,” the letter further states.

Gaurika on August 7 had competed in 100 m backstroke in the Rio Olympics and scripted her name as the youngest athlete among 10,000 plus athletes. She had clocked 1 minute 8.45 seconds to complete the distance. She finshed top in the heat one but failed to progress to the next stage. 

Gaurika lives in London with her family. She holds 10 national records under her belt including seven in individual events.
