Ashim, Phulmaya win gold

KATHMANDU, Oct 26: Ashim Yadav of Saptari and Phulmaya Kyapchaki of Nepal Police won gold medals in the individual 10 meters air rifle event of the National Open Shooting Championship at Satdobato on Wednesday.

In the men's shooting, Ashim earned 175 points to secure top position to pip second-placed Tikaram Shrestha (174 points) of Sunsari. Hari Bahadur Thapa of Nepal Police secured 155 points to finish third.

Likewise, in the women's shooting, gold medalist Phulmaya collected 192 points out of 200. Asmita Rai and Durga Sinjali of Nepal Police claimed second and third positions respectively, earning 185 and 165 points .

Meanwhile, in the air rifle team event, Nepal Police finished first while Dang came second and Nepal Army stood third. Police, Army and Dang secured top three positions in the women's team event of the same category.

Puspa Das Shrestha, president of Nepal Shooting Association, awarded the winners of the competition. Altogether 56 shooters including 28 male and female players each participated in the four-day event.
